Ka kite anō

It is time to say goodbye to our international students.
At the end of this term, we say goodbye to fourteen students from around the world — places very different from New Zealand: Tokyo, Japan; Milan, Italy; Berlin, Hannover and Wiesbaden, Germany; and Avignon, France.
These students have opened their hearts and minds to our country and learned more about what it means to be “Kiwi”.
During their time in Hokitika, they have experienced a different education system, different food, a different climate, different languages, and a different way of life. When people open their minds to different cultures, they gain an understanding of others and, with that, tolerance. Study abroad makes the world a better place.
Our local Westland High School students have welcomed them warmly and shown them the West Coast. Thank you to you all for showing such manaakitanga.
Thank you to Gaia, Cecilia, Federico, Thomas, Nanami, Mats, Jonas, Leevke, Kélyan, Jade, Clara, Martin, Titouan, and Côme for choosing Westland High School for your study abroad experience.
It’s been wonderful having you and we will miss you all.
