Auf Wiedersehen to Clara, Merle, Fynn, Henri and Paul
2025 has been an incredibly busy and rewarding year in the International Department. We have had the pleasure of hosting 34 students from Italy, Japan, France and Germany.
Over the past few days, and into next week, we will be farewelling Clara, Merle, Fynn, Henri and Paul from Germany. These students have shared their culture generously and have been outstanding ambassadors for their country. During our Ecovibe programme, they delivered presentations about Germany to our junior students at Westland High School as well as to Kaniere and St Mary’s primary schools. They also volunteered with Riding for the Disabled, the Kawitiri Coastal Trail, Pukeko Pastures, completed a beach clean-up, and baked for Hokitika kaumātua. Each of these activities helps them learn about and contribute to our community.
We are very fortunate to have an international programme at Westland High School that benefits not only our visiting students but also our local students, who learn about different cultures by being buddies, host families, or simply through friendly conversations with someone new.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
