Dame Sophie Pascoe visits
22 Oct
Last week we were extremely lucky to have Dame Sophie Pascoe, visit our school as part of her Dare to Dream programme.
Dame Sophie has achieved extraordinary things both in the swimming pool (Olympic level) and out of the pool. Powered by Westpac, Sophie’s Dare To Dream programme is helping young people around the country embrace their own differences and reach for the stars. She talked to our Year 10 to 13 girls about finding what motivates them, developing their own goals and working towards them, while tackling common challenges of mental health and pressures of the online world.
By learning the power of positivity, setting goals and working relentlessly to achieve them, Sophie has overcome adversity to become not just a sporting icon but a role model for young New Zealanders.
It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to hear of Sophies journey and what she has overcome in her life and how they can apply the same thoughts to adversity in their lives to achieve success in what ever they put their mind to.
