Industry:

Early Childhood Education

Business:

Active Explorers

Attended Westland

High School: 2005 – 2009

Vocational Pathway:

Stacey explored two career paths through the WHS Gateway programme. The second, in Year 12, was early childhood education at Scenicland Pre School.  She loved it, worked for 6 months and went onto Christchurch Teachers’ College in the mid year intake and studied for three years while working. The requirement was to work part time in a centre as part of the course.

Stacey achieved her Diploma in ECE, and has since achieved her Bachelor in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood). Stacey taught for 5 years in the North Island, before returning to Hokitika with her family. In 2017 the opportunity came up to be the supervisor of Active Explorers ( formerly Scenic Pre School), which has proved to be a rewarding challenge.

Her message for students:

You have nothing to lose, AND everything to gain if you follow your heart. Go for It!
