Outdoor Education

We offer unique opportunities for outdoor education.

The local environment is unrivalled for quick quality access to beaches, lakes, rivers, rainforest and mountains.

The proximity between the school and the outdoors enables quick access to many outdoor venues and means we can offer plenty of practical activities with minimal travel and disruption to the school schedule.

Staff: Naturally, an outdoor mecca like Hokitika has attracted staff who are passionate about the outdoors and what it can offer. Our outdoor education staff are all active to a high level in several outdoor pursuits. They have the qualifications and enthusiasm to run safe, modern and enjoyable programmes.

Westland High School achieved the OutdoorsMark safety audit in May 2011. The report concludes:

“The transparent safety culture at Westland High School is to be commended”.
