Level 3 Mathematics – Statistics

Pre-requisites:

Satisfactory completion of the algebra and probability standards from the 12MATA course.

Course description:

This course extends the mathematics studied at level two, with a particular focus on statistics and probability. This is an excellent course as a preparation for many courses in the social sciences which require a grasp of mathematical modelling, statistical processes and analysis.

Topics covered:

  • Modelling linear systems
  • Analysing bivariate data
  • Describing and analysing time series
  • Solving problems using probability concepts
  • Using probability distributions to model situations and solve problems
