Level 3 History

Pre-requisites:

At least 12 credits at level 2 History or at least 12 English credits at Level 2 (writing/reading) and discussion of intentions with Mr. Wickett.

Course description:

History at level 3 will focus on the theme, “The Empire Strikes Back.” This course will look at the effect that the British Empire had on its colonial territories and how these nations responded to the British rule. It will also cover the political, social, and economic growth of selected countries that were under British rule such as New Zealand, USA, and South Africa.

Credits available:

91434 Research an historical event or place of significance to New Zealanders, using primary and secondary source (internal 5 credits)

91435 Analyse an historical event, or place, of significance to New Zealander (internal 5 credits)

91436 Analyse evidence relating to an historical event of significance to New Zealander (external 4 credits)

91438 Analyse the causes and consequences of a significant historical event (external 6 credits)

TOTAL: 20 credits
