Level 2 Music
Pre-requisites:
Level 1 achievement standards 91090, 91091 (these are the practical standards – group and solo performance)
Course description:
In Level Two music, students work towards a range of achievement standard based tasks that allow them to continue developing their practical music skills (i.e. performing, writing, recording and transcribing music), while building their analytical skills (ie. explaining the use of elements in musical scores and recordings) and knowledge of musical styles (ie. researching a range of music works). Performing to an audience for assessments is expected.

AS91270 Perform two substantial pieces of music as a featured soloist 6
AS91271 Compose two substantial pieces of music 6
AS91272 Demonstrate ensemble skills by performing a substantial piece of music as a member of a group 4
AS91278 Investigate aspect of New Zealand music 4
An external standard is an option by negotiation with Dr Shawcross (for students wishing to pursue endorsement)
